About Your Stay
Since our vacation cabin rentals are all different, and we can't possibly provide ALL of the details here (although we've tried!), we hope you'll give us a call or text as you are planning your getaway. If you let us know exactly what you're looking for, we'll do our very best to match you up with the perfect cabin!
Before contacting us with questions, please browse some general information about your cabin stay at Getaway Cabins® in the Hocking Hills of Ohio.
If your question is not answered below, you can check our FAQ page or contact us directly by phone and email.
Check-In
We offer direct check-in and will send every guest directions for check-in via email prior to arrival, but you are still welcome to visit our main office, which is built around an original 1825 log cabin and home to our Misty Ridge Gift Shop. Feel free to browse our extensive FREE movie library, grab a cold drink, and get some of your favorite Getaway Cabins® gear! Local wildlife, including deer and wild turkey, abound and will often pose along the drive for you.
What to Bring
All of your towels and linens, cookware, utensils, and dish soap are provided. Just bring your food, toiletries, or any additional paper products you commonly utilize. Most calls that we receive are related to specific kitchen items that you may need to prepare your meal, and we always advise that if it is a necessary item always bring it in case. We try our best to provide decent firepit chairs, but it's never a bad idea to bring a fold-up chair with you as well. Don’t forget your hiking boots and cameras! Our cabins all have well-water, some have a higher sulfur content than others, so we encourage you to also bring your own drinking water.
Amenities
Occasionally appliances, hot tubs, fireplaces, etc… can malfunction. We will service and restore these amenities as quickly as we can, but will not make any rental concession for time without these items. Likewise, loss of electricity, water, or other “Acts of God” that are outside of our control will not result in a refund of any monies paid. We ask that you follow all guidelines and policies regarding use of amenities in order to keep them functioning at peak efficiency. Due to cleaning and servicing, hot tubs are sometimes not up to full temperature at the time of check in and may need several hours to heat.
Refreshes
If you are staying more than two days, your hot tub will be checked on the third day and every other day thereafter. We will also bring you new towels on those days.
Fireplaces
Electric fireplaces are operational all year. It just takes a push of the button and you have "flames." Please note that cabins 12, 13, 14, 15, 30, 31, 33 have propane fireplaces that are operational from November-March as deemed appropriate by the weather and management.
Electrical Outages
Unfortunately electrical outages do happen out here in the country! We do have flashlights in the cabins, but you might want to bring one just in case.
Bugs and More
We have our cabins professionally treated on a regular basis, but we have invaded the natural habitat. You are in the middle of the woods, and you WILL see bugs and always a possibility to see rodents and spiders during your stay!
Wi-Fi and Smart TV’s
All of our cabins now offer high-speed Wi-Fi and a version of smart TV or smart stick to allow our guests to stream and watch their favorite shows. The majority of cabins have Roku devices that allow for individual guest account login, with a few being Amazon Firestick and Xumo smart devices.
Winter Weather
Please note that there are no refunds due to inclement weather, and that we HIGHLY RECOMMEND four-wheel drive during the Winter months. While most roads around us are State Routes and school bus routes and are therefore well-cared for, the very nature of the roads in the Hocking Hills area can make traveling difficult if you are not experienced driving in ice or snow. All of our driveways are gravel, and can be as much as 1/2 mile long. We suggest staying at our Chapel Ridge location if any of this makes you nervous, and that you plan to arrive before dark to make driving easier. Please make sure that you have everything with you that you will need for the duration of your stay. It is YOUR responsibility to be able to get to and from your cabin. Still not scared?? Good! We’ve done our best to give you all the “cons” and to be sure that you are ready for the worst case scenarios, but we think that if you’ll give Winter in the Hocking Hills a chance, you’ll really be hooked! There's nothing like sitting in a hot tub and watching it snow! Most of our guests who have experienced the Hills in the Winter make it a yearly tradition.
Office Hours
Our Office at the Main Location is open Sunday-Friday 9am to 5:00pm daily. Closed Saturday. Feel free to stop in for videos, brochures, or suggestions on what to do and where to go anytime during our office hours.
